Template Section
Please
read all of this page first! It contains critical information
that will directly affect your project. Templates are
at the bottom of this page.Your design artwork is
transferred to the CD and paper booklets via our templates.
The process of developing templates requires a basic
knowledge of desktop publishing and image manipulation.
If you are unsure of anything please seek out the assistance
of a graphic designer or use our typesetting services
which enable you to get professional results with minimal
effort. If you do not know what film is, please read
our introduction to film before downloading the templates.
You
must use our templates! No film output can be completed
without using our template files. Our templates are
available in the following formats:
- Quark
Express
- Adobe
Pagemaker
- Adobe
Illustrator
- Or
CorelDraw!
DO
NOT post script or export the files from the above
programs. Keep all files in their native formats.
If you do not have any of the above programs you can
not proceed! If you are sending Dambiz final films
please see;

CD
Label Templates
- The CD surface has three distinct areas that can
accept ink: The aluminum layer, the inner mirror band
and the clear plastic center. There are limitations
and warnings regarding text placement between 35mm
and 46mm and color shifting over the clear plastic
area in the specifications guide page.
- If you require 4 colour print (image print), there
is usually a need for a white underlay in order to
achieve even, realistic color quality. 4 colors plus
a white underlay = 5 colors.
- The CD label is silk screened and requires adjustments
to CMYK images to achieve faithful color reproduction.
It is important that you review the CD label information
for graphic artists.
- Do not use very thin fonts on the CD label and
do not "fake" bold by adding outlines to fonts. Read
more details.
Booklet and Pouch Layouts
- Each
template booklet is normally priced as 4+1 colors
and the tray card is priced as 4+0. Please call ahead
for additional colors. For further explanation read
Color choices for booklet, tray card & pouches.
- Please
state on the order forms whether you wish to print
the paper booklet or pouch template file with 4 color
process (CMYK) or Black and White (Gray scale). PMS
colors do cost extra so please verify that the template
does not contain spot colors unless you call ahead
for prices. Check carefully that all images and type
are CMYK (on the color pages) and gray scale or K
only on the Black and White pages. Do Not use RGB
(screen colors).
-
Make sure "Made In Canada" appears no further than
1" away from the distributor's address on the tray
card. It must be the same size and color as the address.
· All images should be high resolution 300 dpi TIFs
or EPS files. Do not use GIF or JPGs as a source file.
Make sure that templates include a bleed (color falls
off the page). This extra margin is to make sure that
small differences in the cutting do not create paper
white slivers running along the edge of the booklet.
Type
/ Fonts
- Try to avoid excessive use of fonts. Clients must
always supply all font files with supplied electronic
documents. MAC users must make sure that they are
sending Post Script printer font files in addition
to the screen font files. PC users send the True
Type or Type One fonts.
Proofs
/ sample print mock up
- A
full size 100% scale mock up MUST be provided
for all printing jobs especially if you are sending
up your own films. The mock up does not have to
be in high resolution or color. Just a simple
mock up showing the pagination and layout required.
ALL ORDERS WILL BE PLACED ON HOLD UNTIL A MOCK
UP IS PRESENTED.
-
On all film work we suggest ordering proofs, either
digital (typesetting and layout error checking)
or film proofs (color balance). If you wish to
decline proofs on the grounds of expense or lack
of time, then we can not guarantee a perfect result.
Consequently you would have to take full responsibility
for any possible errors at printing.
